How your culture ensures team engagement

Meet Jessy Antonis – our new in-house recruiter at Blinqx. She’s on a Quest to get to know the Blinqx culture and shared values (smart rebels, ambitious, human centered) to better understand the stories behind them. In this episode, she will be talking to CEO Ruud van der Kruk to explore the culture of Blinqx. This time the focus is on the value ‘Human Centered’. Find out what this value means to Blinqx!

Ruud, the value “Human Centered” is one of the three most important values of Blinqx. What does this value mean to you, both personally and to the organization?

For us, ‘Human-Centered’ means always working with and for people — both within our teams and with our customers. It’s the foundation of everything we do: respect, openness, and commitment.
We believe it’s important that everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. This value drives us to focus not only on what people do, but also on who they are — on genuine connection and personal commitment.
For me personally, it’s about creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and working together in a way that helps them grow. It’s about putting personal needs at the heart of how we set and achieve our goals.

Can you elaborate a bit on how “Human Centered” comes to life in daily practice within Blinqx?

“Sure. First of all, it means that we don’t see mistakes as failures, but as learning moments. Blinqx is growing incredibly fast, and mistakes are simply part of that journey, both for individuals and for the organization. It’s important to acknowledge that no one is perfect, but we can always improve by working together and being open about what could be better. That also means not shying away from difficult conversations, but embracing them as opportunities to grow together. I like to put the facts on the table, without judgment, so that we can understand different perspectives. Only then can we reach to the right insights. This helps us not only as an organization, but also as a team.”

That sounds like a culture centered around openness and honesty. What about giving feedback? How do you make sure it’s done in a constructive way?

“Feedback is essential in our culture. It’s important that feedback doesn’t only come from your manager or supervisor, but is shared the other way around too, horizontally and vertically within the organization. I think it’s important that everyone feels comfortable sharing their thinking, regardless of position or seniority. That way we keep each other sharp and continue to grow as an organization. It is very different from criticism, it is about the intention to help one another and the company by being open and honest, and in doing so, becoming stronger together.

That sounds like a very inclusive way of working. How does this value come to life in your relationship with clients?

“It’s exactly the same with our clients. We build strong, open relationships where we are not afraid to be transparent about what is going well, but also about what can still be improved. For us, it is essential to always put the customer first; to listen to their needs and work together to find the best solutions. We actively embrace input and interaction with our clients because it helps us think more broadly and continuously improve our services.
It’s not just business, it’s personal. We want our clients to feel heard and confident in what we do.

And how is the value “Human Centered” reflected in the collaboration between colleagues within Blinqx?

“The core of ‘Human Centered’ is to think in ‘we’, and not in ‘I’. When things are going well, we celebrate the successes together, and when things get tough, we solve them together. This mentality ensures that we stay strong as a team, even in times when not everything goes smoothly. We share our knowledge and experiences with each other, which promotes cooperation and creates a sense of trust. Diversity in thinking plays a big role here: by embracing different perspectives and ideas, we create healthy discussions. This makes us more flexible and innovative as a team.”

It sounds like everyone within Blinqx has a voice, regardless of their position in the organization. How do you handle decision-making within such a culture?

“That’s right. Everyone is heard, but that doesn’t mean we always strive for consensus. Sometimes we have to make quick and targeted decisions – in a growing organization like Blinqx, you can’t escape that – and then it’s important to find the right balance. We make decisions even if not everyone agrees, but we include the different perspectives of the people in the organization. It’s all about balance: an environment where everyone feels involved, but where we also dare to choose and give direction when necessary.”

What would you say to someone considering joining Blinqx and wondering if they fit into this culture?

“If you’re looking for a work environment where you can both give and receive feedback, grow through diverse perspectives, and achieve goals together, then you’ll fit right in at Blinqx.
We’re all about respect, collaboration, and embracing different viewpoints.
If you value celebrating successes together and taking shared responsibility for challenges, then you’ve come to the right place.”
